Day 1:

Kigali, The capital of Rwanda

You will be welcomed by your driver/guide and transferred to the hotel in Kigali.

Day 2:

Ruhengeri

Following a hearty breakfast, we embark on a journey from Kigali, traversing the picturesque landscapes to arrive at Ruhengeri, situated at the entrance of Parc National des Volcans (Volcanoes National Park). En route, we are treated to a mesmerizing spectacle of natural beauty, passing through the meticulously cultivated terraced hills of Kigezi and Rwanda. As the day unfolds, we immerse ourselves in the enchanting scenery that unfolds before us, truly capturing the essence of this remarkable region. Later, we indulge in a delightful dinner and settle in for a restful overnight stay, cherishing the memories created amidst the splendor of our surroundings.

Day 3:

Gorilla Trekking

Early morning you enter the gorilla sanctuary of Parc National des Volcans, the rain tropical forest covering the hills surrounding Virunga Volcanoes. The trekking is a demanding but rewarding experience.

Ensure you bring with you enough water and a packed lunch. The time spent in the forest depends on the movements of the primates in their natural environment. Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 4:

The Beach of Lake Kivu in Gisenyi

After breakfast, leave Ruhengeri and proceed to Gisenyi, a pretty town located on the shores of beautiful Lake Kivu, the main water body of Rwanda. Relax on the beach. Dinner and overnight.

Day 5:

Panorama of Rwanda

After breakfast, transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park along Lake Kivu. Stopover in Kibuye for lunch. Arrive in Nyungwe National Park in time for dinner and overnight.

Day 6:

The Primates of Nyungwe National Park

After an early breakfast, you enter the Nyungwe forest for trekking in search of the numerous troops of Colobus monkeys and/or tracking the chimpanzee.

Nyungwe is a vast, uncontaminated rain tropical forest over 1000 sq. km in size and you will be amazed by such intense, green mountain vegetation.

Ensure you carry with you a packed lunch and water for a picnic lunch. Return for dinner and overnight.

Day 7:

Kigali and the Culture of Rwanda

After breakfast, you will drive to Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. Stopover in Gikongoro for a tour of the Genocide Memorial of Murambi.

Lunch in Butare, where it is possible to find the best Rwandan, original handicraft, which you cannot find in other countries of Africa.

Butare hosts the biggest university and the national cultural museum, worthy to visit. Stopover in Nyanza for a tour of the royal palace of the traditional king of Rwanda, the Mwami. Arrive in Kigali for dinner and overnight.

Day 8:

Akagera National Park

After breakfast, depart for Akagera National Park located along the Tanzanian border of Rwanda. You reach in time for the evening game drive.

This park is famous for its herds of game animals including Burchell’s Zebra, lions, elephants, topi, giraffes, impalas, and over 425 species of birds including the shoe billed stock, African jacana, sacred ibis’ goliath heron. Dinner and overnight.

Day 9:

Game Ride

Early morning game drives along with the trials of Akagera. As an optional activity, you can board the boat for exploring the water of Lake Ihema to see a large number of hippo, the huge Nile crocodile, and birds. In the afternoon drive back to Kigali for dinner and overnight.

Day 10:

Departure

Depending on your program, enjoy a city tour around Kigali before your transfer to the airport for departure.

Best Time To Visit Rwanda

The best wildlife viewing months in Rwanda are during the Dry seasons from June to August and December to February. Primate walks in the forest are a big part of any safari in Rwanda. The habitat of rainforests is, by default, very wet, and one can’t avoid rain completely
